Default IC-F3060 programming

I have a dealer programmed 3061 which I need to modify a few channels on. I have the software and USB cable and can get info from the radio; serial number, firmware, options installed using the software and cable, but I can't read the programming from the radio to modify it.

Any ideas?

Moved. The ICOM Receivers forum is for topics related to devices which receive only.

Is your cable installed correctly?

What version of the software do you have?

What is the model number of your radio?

If you are trying to read the radio using the newer software for 5061/3061 it will not work as it is for the 3161.

Isn't there an option in the programming where you can set it to where you cannot read the existing memory? This makes it "secure" where you cannot read the memory of the radio and modify it. You can only overwrite it with a new file and such.

Not sure if this is it, but I am pretty sure that is an option.

There is an option for that and that appears to be the issue. Thanks.

Now I am not exactly sure, but aren't you supposed to read the radio first, and then edit channels? I heard that if you just create a new file in the software it will put incorrect values into the radio. When you read it, it reads "non-user editable" values and then you can edit that file.

But in lock mode, how could he do that? Can he do the "reserve" hack in the software to read values not normal read/changed or something?

Just wondering. i do not own an Icom Radio, but have looked into it. Just curious on the making a new file thing which could mess up the radio. I don't want him to do that!

If the data out feature is disabled, you can just write a new file to the radio. Presumably you know what you want in it, so go ahead and make your new file and write it.

Common problem. Hold down P0 while turning on. Then do READ or WRITE in the software. Should get you up and going.
