Default F70D Programing

Trying to program a few F70's, getting an ILLEGAL DATA message.

Have the OPC 966U with CSF70, Radio reads fine but at the end of the read process I get an ILLEGAL DATA message and Check Com ports.

What's the fix for this? Why is it happening?

Thanks

the software is Revision 1.2 the Clone Cable USB driver is 1.1 and I will have to get the radio over here later to see what the firmware version is. But I see where your going with this, if the Radio version is older I see no problem with it working, but newer then I see the problem. Thanks, I can work with this.

You are Correct! the Radio firmware is 2.5 my Software is 1.2 so it looks like I get to shell out MORE money to Icom!

Thank you for the reply.

LOL Do the Doo and Not the Dough.

I got them programed, I found the New software and even with Firmware 2.9. The radio's are done and it didn't cost me any doo or dough. Thanks for the offer fire, didn't get back to the post quick enough to see your offer. but that project is done now anyways.

Take Care

I'm sure you'll like your F70D. At the shop (we're a dealer for Icom, Kenwood, and Motorola) we've got some F70Ds set up for demonstration purposes. Our demo kit consists of VHF F70Ds, M/A-Com (I guess it's Harris this week...) P7170IPs, and Motorola Astro Sabers and XTS5000s, all configured on several
channels with and without talkgroups, and call alert and selective calling. It's a very good demo that shows
full brand-to-brand interoperability in P25 CAI mode as well as analog modes.

The F70s perform as well as any others. Their RX audio quality is far superior to the M/A-Com radios
and every bit as good as the Motorolas. Their transmit audio quality is better than any of them. Better
than the M/A-Com, better than the Astro Saber, better than the XTS.

Well done, Icom!

It's amazing that these aren't the best selling VHF and UHF P25 portables on the market. By rights they
should be. But unfortunately it's not the quality of the radio that sells, it's the ability of the salesdroid to
convince the customer that "my way is the only way".

The radio industry would be perfect if all buying decisions were made by technical staff instead of
beancounters and purchasing agents who are so non-technically-oriented that they'll call a tow truck
for a burned-out headlight.
