Default Need help Programming an IC-F621-TR

Bought one off ebay and am unable to get the radio to sync up to either of my computers for programming. I get a no response from receiver error message. Usinga legal copy of the CS-500 software v2. I contacted the seller and he stated that the radio was locked to his system and that I had to take it to a dealer. Don't relish the idea of spending $80 just to get it "unlocked" Any ideas? Thanks all!

Try writing a blank file to the radio instead of reading from it. Generally you can program the radio with a password which prevents the contents from being read. This lets you protect your frequencies and PL tones from anyone who ends up with a radio and may grab this info. The workaround is usually as simple as writing to the radio instead of trying to read the "locked" data.

Wrong software. The 621TR uses its own unique software package, which is NOT the F520/620 package.

I know, I work on those. My shop sells them. I had to check out one just two days ago.

Good eye, I didn't stop to check which software they're using. I assumed the most likely explanation was that there was a programming password in the radio.

I also have the f620tr software ver 1.2. I get an error message stating that this is not a compatible model of radio. The radio firmware version is 1.5. I took it to a shop that connected it up with their 1.3 version of the software and it worked perfectly. So i'm at a loss. Either my 1.2 version is not compatible and I have to get ver 1.3 or higher, or the USB cable I'm using is crap. I'm assuming the cable I'm using is ok as I don't think I would have rec'd the error message about a incompatible radio. Can anyone send me a a copy of the ver 1.3 or higher for evalutaion purposes? Please?
