Default Front Panel Select of PL/DPL?

We're considering some Icom commerical rigs and would like to program them with a few channels in the amateur frequencies. My question is can you set the transceiver up so you can easily (easily is the operable word) field program the PL or DPL. Why? For each common repeater pair, you don't have to have multiple channels--just one--and when travelling from one area to another just change the PL or DPL.

If so, which of the more recent models makes this easy--if at all. What's involved?

Yes, I know some of the radios have a large number of channels available--some don't, and there will be some restrictions, regardless, on the number of channels we can allocate to this--and thus the question.

In the cloning (programming) software, you can define up to 9 global PL\DPL Combos (In addition to having each channel have it's own PL tone set). Then, by assigning the function "C Tone CH Ent" to one of the P0-4 buttons, you can easily select between what tone you would like to assign to the current channel.

It depends on the radio, too. For example, in the F1821 series mobile radios, you can have up to 40 different tones in the list. That's probably enough for most users. The number of available slots varies from one radio type to another.
