Default ICOM handheld IC-F4011 or 24

I'm new to this Icom forum so please help and direct. I need a handheld two way radio. At work they have HT1000's from Motorola. Too bulky for me, I called a few people about Icom IC-F4011 and IC-F24. I need a small radio with speaker mic to operate on 451.1875 DPL 271 Or DTCS 271 tone. You get the idea.
I'm asking for Icom experience good bad and the ugly. I only need it to function at the airport so say a two mile radius or so and we have a repeater atop our terminal. Is there a better option or cheaper solution? I'm quoted around $280.00 each.

So.... What would you do?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Don.

Moved to the commercial radio ICOM forum. Please take a moment to look over all forums and their descriptions next time. The ICOM Receivers forum is for devices that receive only. Thanks.

An Icom F24 will serve your needs very well. If you need no more than 2 channels, an F24S would still do just fine. I've put a lot of those radios into customer's hands and I almost never see them come
back with any problems. They're a solid, dependable radio that performs well.

Default F4011 is the F24

The F4011 is actually the same radio as the F24.

It even has the same FCCID.

The only differance is that through firmware, Icom has disabled the 2Tone and 5Tone features of the radio.

The body of the radio is shaped a little different, but the guts (what makes it work inside) is essentially a F24.
