Some DCS codes (D125N from first hand experience) have issues that cannot be resolved. The newer 5121 radios don't have that issue.
Maker reserve allows adjustment of the attack times. WARNING: do one radio at a time and close/open the software between radios. Each radio is unique as a snowflake and you can brick the radio pretty easily.
I don't remember the exact details, but a couple years ago I had to adjust CTCSS attack on three 121's used in voting receivers- down- the lower the value the less stringently the gate is applied as I recall. DCS attack is probably the same.
SAVE THE FIRST DOWNLOAD SO YOU CAN GO BACK! There is a lot of trial and error involved.
