If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Greetings everybody!

I am here today after having much trouble with a newly acquired piece of gear.

You see, I had a ton of old headsets that utilized the old Motorola 2-pin layout and wished to use it on my Icom F60.

After some simple searching on Google, I came across this interesting piece of kit:
ICOM F30/F40 Side Connector to 2 prong Motorola plug Adapter

The only issue is that upon receiving said item, it doesn't work!

I haven't taken the adapter apart yet, but looking at the pin interface, it seems to utilize the following pins on the Icom radio:
1 Audio Frequency Out
3 Option Detect
4 Common Ground
8 Mic Audio
Icom page 65.

Not with the adapter plugged in, I am able to receive transmissions, but unable to send (Headset PTT and Radio PTT yields no function via headset) However, the radio continues to transmit through the radio's microphone if I hold down the radio's PTT.

Essentially, with the adapter in use, it seems that the only use I am able to get out of my 2-pin headset is nothing more than a fancy audio out ear piece.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks!
