• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

A couple questions about programming these.
My first question is what is the latest version of the software? I have 1.1 and
I'm guessing there's been updates.

My second question is that in the software that I do have, you can select
whether it's a digital model or an analog model. If you select the digital
model, many of the analog features disappear such as scan and signalling. It's
supposedly a dual mode radio with the digital board installed but it seems to be
one or the other. Then again, it is icom software we're talking about here.

Anybody know?

Hi,
I have Version 1.2.
When you change to digital you lose the ability to scan. You can mix modes in same zone but scan goes by-by.The F3161/4161 do scan both digital and analog in the same zone.F3060/4060 were the first IDAS radios and guess they were not thinking about incorporating scan with digital.F3060/4060 are great radios otherwise.

Correct. And 1.2 is the last SW version.

The F3061's were not exactly feature rich, and don't have enough memory to accomodate more. There are several firmware flashes, but as I recall none ohem add features. The 3161's got more momory (as did other models coming out about the same time) and can hold anything you would like to throw at them.

Thanks for the replies. I'm getting some conflicting reports here.
From what I hear from a dealer the 061 can be flashed with 2.x firmware and using cloning software v 1.2 the radio will do scan and etc on a radio with nxdn too. I'm trying to get the latest firmware so I can prove or disprove this theory.

I have got to call tech support tomorrow on an unrelated issue and IF I remember I'll ask.

The radio has 1.5 but 1.8 can't be the latest.
