Default Packet port on PCR 1500/2500

I'm wondering if the 'packet' port on the icom pcr-1500/2500 is a true discriminator tap or simply a data output port (a la the GRE-PSR 500/600)? (Mods, if this is in the wrong forum, please move to the correct one.)

Thanks,

It's not a direct 'discriminator' output but there is only limited filtering on it compared to a normal audio output

Okay,

I'm wondering if I can use it with programs such as unitrunker to be able to view any "data" (ie control channels) on a frequency?

Thanks,

From firsthand experience, I can confirm that it works fine (or did when I owned one anyway).

Not many nets over here but can confirm that both the PCR1000 and PCR2500 data output work fine with trunker, unitrunker and PDW

works great on Unitrunker, Trunkmon, trunk88, treport, and many others.

Takes a very weak signal for trunking and turns it into 100% decoded.

PM if you need any other questions answered about the 1500.
