Default How to control Icom-PCR1000 remotely

I need a little help with the experts in this forum. I have an Icom PCR-1000 running with either Scancat, Probe1K, or TalkPCR. on my XP desktop at home. I would like to contol it remotely( change freqs, scan, etc) from my work desktop and be able to listen to listen to it from my computer running also XP at my job. I know it is possible but I cannot find any info on the setup. Your help is greatly appreciated.......Rich

RemoteHams.com | Home or you could use RDP and a streaming software.

Thanks for the quick response. I will look into it, and report back the success to the forums.

Default other option

You might run into a problem with RDP depending how your IP address is assigned to your home computer. Also, depending on where you work, it may be firewalled.

I have used logmein to access a remote system and it does support audio however it is VERY dependent on connection speed. On the plus side, they have a demo so you can try it out and see if it works for you. Another one is connecttomypc. I havent tried that one but it should be about the same.

Google PCR Remote and PCR Server. You'll need to stream the audio portion separately, but once you overcome that obstacle it'll work very nicely for you. If you don't mind an audio delay, Windows Media Encoder will probably do the trick for that. All of the software is free.

Thanks for all the responses. I'm sure members can apply this to different scanners also. Being that there is a host of broadband products & cellphones, it would allow members to access their scanners at home while they are at work, driving, etc.
