Default IC-R5 "scan edges" question...

I'm wondering how you scan between a set of frequencies with the R5 from the panel buttons?

Here is my dilemma... I *occasionally* hear ham's talking on the 2m band, but they tend to be real hit or miss. I would like to tell the radio to look between freq. X and Y and just let it go, but this seems to be really complicated from the instructions. (something about scan edges and it looks like you have to set them up ahead of time?)

Does anyone have a clear set of steps for me to follow?
