Default ICR20 Scan Edge Programming

This radio intimidates the heck out of me, and I am NOT a tecno guy. I have the RC20 software and cable, and thats the only way I can make it work. OK, here is my "problem". I want to search the 138-144 Mhz frequency's for Air National Guard traffic (a whole slew of F-16's out of Springfield-Beckley Airport). I tell the software to go to the "Program Scan Edge" section and put 138.00 in the 00A lower band and 140.00 in 00B upper band. In the mode column FM comes up automatically but I have been told they use AM. So, I change it to AM. Then I upload it to the IC-R20, but it scans as FM. How can I convince the scanner I really want it to scan in the AM mode? My apologies in advance for not being able to find an answer in that document they include called the instruction manual. Thanks for any help.

Walt
