Icom IC-R1500 and the world above 1200 Mhz
I've been doing some research on various receivers, and have pretty much narrowed it down to the class of the Icom IC-R1500 for what I mainly want to do - mostly HF(SSB) and AIR/VHF/UHF (120-400 Mhz) monitoring. Not really concerned about the blocked freqs as I have a trunking radios to listen to 800 & 900 Mhz trunking.
Here's my question: What is up there beyond 1200 Mhz that is really worth listening to. If most everything I want to hear is well below 1000 Mhz, then there is no need buying a radio that goes up to 3 Ghz.
I've done local database searches, and all I see in my area are TV station uplinks or downlinks, and from what I've read, the satellite stuff would all be digital & encrypted, as would be most other stuff in the 2-3 Ghz range.
For those of you who have radios that go up to 2 or 3 Ghz - what can/do you listen to? Thoughts/feedback?
Thanks
