Cool Bonner Co., ID; sheriff tac P25 problems ?

Hi

I was in Troy, Mt. last night working and was listening to 460.5000 on my BCT15. Heard some good stuff.
That repeater is supposed to be P25; Bonner Co. Id. Sheriff tactical but the comm's were coming in the clear for some reason. They must have been having problems with the system maybe. Signal was very weak, only one bar on the display, but caught the gist of it. Cannot repeat what I heard as it was tactical in nature. Heh heh. BTW, I was using an GRE preamp with my radio, only way I could recieve it at that distance.

P25 and the word problem are rapidly becoming synonymous.

No personal knowledge on this one but not surprising either-other agencies along the USCAN border into and thru Washington State seems to be experiencing various (lack of ) performance based problems with P25 rollouts.

Seems P25 may not be the cats pajamas in non-urban environments (shocking).

You can bet Motorola cashed that check.

For 460.5000 simulcast on 460.1750 has been analog so far for Bonner county.
Not sure when they plan to cut over to digital.

This is the plan for these counties as discussed the the I-C-A-WIN (IDAHO COOPERATIVE AGENCIES’ WIRELESS INTEROPERABLE NETWORK) document.
http://www.bhs.idaho.gov/Pages/Inter...CAWIN%20V2.pdf

Public Safety Interoperable Communications grant (PSIC) is funding nine (9) county / regional interoperable communications projects, and supporting state microwave site upgrades, which includes:
• Kootenai – 700MHz trunked system to serve immediate and surrounding counties, Coeur d’Alene tribe, create State interface and potential link for cross-border communications. (WA) (MT) $2,235,138.00
• Bonner – 700MHz trunked repeater site upgrade to interface with Kootenai County enhancing regional trunked system $640,000.00
• Boundary – Interface with Bonner County enhancing regional trunked system and enhancing UHF / VHF cross-border communications (Canada) $33,505.00

I don't think any vhf/uhf freqs will be digital until the 700 MHz implementation is made in these counties.

Try the following page - then it is the fourth item under Related Links on the right side of the page.
BHS Home > Interoperable Communications > Public Safety Communications Governance Council > Idaho SIEC
