StarCom21/McHenry County Site 146

I took a little field trip this morning and confirmed that McHenry County is using Site Number 146 along with System 140 for it's new StarCom21 compatible radio system. The control channel was on 866.7375 this morning.

System freqs are:
866.35000, 866.73750 867.55000, 868.03750, 868.31250.

StarCom21 site 120 sites are co-located with these sites as well, using:
867.41250, 868.43750, 867.91250, 855.98750, 866.96250

The StarCom21 Profile has been updated to reflect these changes. Also included in the Profile update is some excellent southern Illinois Updates from a friend in Little Egypt.

Sorry if this is a dumb question but I am new to the starcom stuff. What does it mean when you say co-located. If I want to listen to Mchenry on my 396 what system freqs do i need. Thanks

Co-Located means that the site has both StarCom21 and McHenry County equipment installed on them. If you only want to hear McHenry County ops when they switch over then you only need to monitor the McHenry County freqs.

So Mchenry County Sheriff is now on Starcom? Thats strange, I thought they were planning to implement their own Motorola system for county-wide ops and sheriff's department.

They are still using the VHF channels shown in the McHenry County Profile. The Motorola system they bought and is currently in the testing phase with is fully compatible with StarCom21 and acts as a separate site, just like St. Clair County.

The wind must be blowing my way today as I am able to pick Site 146 out of the weeds a bit this morning from home. I have Pro96Com running and have ID'd 867.55000 and 868.03750 as Alternate Control Channels.

Have gotten a few hits off of Site 146 today
heard someone doing a test count on TG 30330 on 866.7375 around 4:15 pm
other hits I've had are:

Hearing testing being done starting at around 8:20 am
TG 1116 on 868.3125 & 866.7375
doing radio checks from various location inside the county building

I heard a female at 10:38PM on 866.7350 scannner said SID:0140h-0146. It was real unclear but I live in east Lake County. Anyone else been picking up chatter?

Rich Carlson, how come that you didnot post the freq of 867.7250 on this page? I see it on the main page but not here

. I hear traffic on it. And when listing to site 146 theres traffic but on the 396t dose not say P25 like on site 108 or 120. I think its a non digital freq im picking up.

I also would like to know if this is the replacement (146) for site 1000?

867.7250 is part of the Lake County EDACS system, not the StarCom21 system.

"Site 1000" was not the actual Site ID, it was given that number by the RadioReference database admin to indicate an unknown site number. 146 is the actual Site ID used by the system.

I live off of Rt. 59 by grasslake road and cant hear anything its on all the time I have a good base Ant. for good reception in the 800 range but not picking anything up are they broadcasting. I can hear them on McHenry County 155.97000 just fine but not digital. Also getting data and a control freq. but no talking and I not dumb having scan on insted of the search. lol

I haven't heard them doing any testing since my last post.
they are not Simulcasting the 155.97

Yea I know about them not making 155.79000 digital but was weard I can hear site 108 and 120 no problem. But no traffic on 146

I have been monitoring Site 146 for the last few weeks with Pro96Com and the only activity has been a couple radios affiliating with statewide Mutual Aid groups and a couple Moto techs on 1101, 1102 and 1103.

I have not heard any simulcasting yet, I would imagine they would simulcast 155.790 for a while when they go live on the system.
