I'm a complete noob at this site. So I guess this is a good spot to introduce myself.

Eric Schreiber
Call Sign, GMRS WQGH755
Plainfield, Will County, Illinois

I have a pair of Midland GXT635 GMRS radios, used primarily when geocaching.

My current scanner is a Radio Shack PRO-62 that I bought used from a friend maybe ten years ago. I was living in Chicago at the time, and the local police bands made for fascinating listening. While the 'bad cops' are the ones who make the news, I was deeply impressed with the Chicago rank and file officers and how they did their jobs. While the local police scene here isn't as interesting as it was in Chicago, it still has its moments. I'm also a keen listener to the ham weather spotters in the area during storms (I'm a trained weather spotter, too).

The PRO-62 charging circuit seems to have died, and all my frequency settings along with it. So now I'm shopping for a new handheld. Given my love for expensive gadgets, a BCD396XT is the leading contender. I have a month yet to talk myself out of it (not likely!).

Other interests: photography, music writing/production, geocaching, my 650cc scooter, rock collecting. I have more hobbies that free time, spare cash, or good sense.
