155.67000. Lincoln-Way com center simulcast
It's gone. The simulcast for New Lenox, Mokena, and Frankfort police is no longer broadcasting as far as I can tell, or it has been a VERY quiet few days. Does anyone have any info that can help me hear New Lenox's finest again? I have had a lot of trouble trying to program the new Will County 800mhz system. I can program the channels but getting the talk groups locked in is a problem for me, I have a Radio Shack pro 164

Strangely within an hour of making this post, radio traffic on 155.67 resumed in full

It's best to listen to LW on Will Co. EDACS now.

Will Co is patching 155.670 thru there radio system and yesterday there radio system went down....It came back up in about a hour...Eric said it rite as you can hear LW thru what there really using now and thats TGID-04-097 and patched thru 15-096, 04-116 is car-car and 04-117 also has car-car traffic...Ron in Joliet. Im not sure the PRO164 has a ID-WILDCARD", if so you can see all the TGID's as they popup and press F3 and they will go in automatically....??

Im sorry "trenchfeeder" on my last post here i told you wrong about programming IDTG's on the PRO164, went and looked at it in the "Wiki", you need to go to the trunk system in question, press "PGM", then "trunk" and you see the TGID list, your talkgroups can then be programmed on that list....

I have been trying to get the Will County EDACs in order, but i can't seem to get the talk groups to work correctly. I can do CT codes and DC just fine, but for some reason the EDACs wont monitor correctly for me. I can't get it to monitor specific talk groups, I have them programmed into the banks, but the scanner monitors the control freqs passively it seems, not staying on the TG i have set
As it stands now the only things I can hear on any of the Will Country control Freqs is the court house/jail and some random patrol units. I want to buy the device that lets me program the scanner off of my computer. Other than not hearing the county units I already have a solid link on the towns my delivery route takes me through, but I definately want to get Will county sorted out

I forgot to add, It's strange that i have a problem with the Will county system as Joliet's EDACs system works great for me. It identifies the TGs on its own, and does not switch up channels nearly as much as the WC EDACs. When I listen to the actual control tone for the Will County system it shows a percentage in the corner but never achieves 100%, and the rest of the control channels do not automaticly show TGs at all.

WC is a much larger system than Joliet, with many more users. that's why you see more frequencies, not that it matters at all. Joliet is not an EDACS system, it's a Motorola type.
Do you have your banks set to open or closed?
I don't have that scanner, but it's pretty typical GRE bank style programming.
For EDACS you have to have the LCN's in the right order, the bank has to be set to EDACS mode AND each frequency's mode in that bank to EDACS as well (easy to make a mistake, easy to fix)
With this type of scanner, open banks let any traffic through, closed only lets through TGID's you programmed in....this means if you never want to hear the courthouse/jail, don't program them in, or lock them out. There are several groups like the jail and forest preserve that have so much traffic you'll never hear much else if you don't. EDIT technically, you could carefully put organized groups into your sub-banks (fire in one, county police in another, LW in a third, jail in a fourth, etc) and turn those on and off. That's pretty fancy programming without software.
Contrary to the manual, I don't need much signal to get Will Co. EDACS to reliably receive on any of my GRE type scanners or Uniden's either for that matter. If you're close to full meter that's probably more than plenty.

Alright, thanks for the info, I'm gonna head up to the shack and see about the computer interface tomorrow. I'll take a look at the manual too, now that you explained the open closed banks, I think that is my problem.

I have my BC246t Programmed like this:
04-097 LWPD Dispatch
04-117 New Lenox PD C2C
04-116 Mokena PD C2C
04-115 Frankfort PD C2C
All of these talkgroups are confirmed by officers I know, they just rarely use the C2C talkgroups because they ALL use their department issued NEXTEL PTT (Push-To-Talk) phones to talk amongst each other.

Very good post on the Will Co system "Eric", Will Co now has 8 freqys and on GRE/RS scanners except the new GRE500 you must start programming the freqys with CH1, not CH "0" as thats actually the first CH in a bank...Also, if you have not put in the rebanded steps in the PRO164 for "Joliet" your not hearing all the calls....Also, Eric is correct i think you have the PRO164 in the "-"closed mode other wise you would hear all the TGID's....
