Default question about springfield,il. p.d.

I have noticed this a couple of times now. The Springfield p.d. comes in fine on my Pro-106 (R.S.) but for some reason, every once in a while, they go silent. This has happened twice now that I know of. Friday night (10/2) they seemed to just go silent for an hour or more, then I started hearing traffic again. Now with it being Friday night, I know there had to be radio traffic as I have listened to them for many years and I know they were either on a backup freq. using cell phones or something. I was just wondering if there were any other listeners in the Spfld. area that noticed this? I also have a freind who has the same scanner and he noticed the same thing. I only have three control channels programmed in the scanner. could I posssibly not have all the control channels programmed in? The ones I have programmed in are 852.325, 851.975 and 851.925. Any comments suggestions are welcomed. thanks

go to the database. you're missing frequencies if you only have 3 in.

Default YES I have experienced this too!

Timmer

Check out my posts in this thread. I was asking the same thing but in a differnt way - we have the same symtoms I think. I have the same scanner - the 106.

Pro-106 CC Question

I was thinking that it was my use of the CC's and alts from the Chatham site too as well as the Hilton. I have been experimenting with some things like actual radio setting on my scanner - setting different dwell times - changing up which site here in town I choose - disabling prioority scan and for sure disabling prioritytalkgroup interupt, - The Hilton is obviously the closest for me (Site ID 02-030) but I've also used the CC and alt info from Chatham (02-017) singuarly and together. I thought maybe that SPD was encrypting,

SPD have not been using the old MOTO 800HHz system as I still have my pro162 set up for that and scanning - everynow and then there is a rebroadcast for an Attempt to Locate or something on the old City Frank 4 but generally the 800MHZ system now is all FIRE and the CWLP and City ops

I am a bit releived tho that does not help you much - that I am not alone.

It did appear that you have the CC and two alternate channels - the other freqs really are not required to the best of my knowlwdge - unless the previous poster was also referrinf to obtaining the CC and two alternates from the other site two - that would be 6 in total - Maybe for grins and giggles I will add in all the freqs meaning the ones that are not a control channel or alternate control chaneel and see - but I thought all that is needed is the CC and the alternates on a trunked system

Since there are 2 sites in Springfield, and they are not simulcast, it is possible that there just weren't radios affiliated with the site and the TGID's you have programmed in during the time in question.

I would think this to be kind of unlikely with the Hilton site but the ISP site could have few if any SPD cars affiliated with it at times.

Default Multiple sites and programming together

Is there an issue with programming multiple sites? For example the Hilton and ISP together?

I did not enable the scanner to check each CC in the list of CC's on every pass - I assumed doing so could cause some unwanted affect but, again, I am not sure I am fully understanding that setting. I'm sure that I need to be schooled a bit more and continue my experiments and reading up.

TGID's are TGID's correct? For example the TGID's for SPD would be the same at each site correct, as long as it's the same system IL starcom21 in this case?

Thanks for your reply

Program in both sites with each of the frequencies indicated as "Control" or "Alternate":

852.32500, 852.85000, 853.37500 (for the Hilton site)

851.92500, 852.45000, 852.97500 (for the ISP site)

The reason you want any of the possible Control or Alternate channels is that if the main one gets knocked out by a bad radio or something the control data willrevert to one of the Alternates until the radio is repaired. If you don't have the active control channel in your radio you wouldn't be able to track the site.

The TGID's are the same at each site but the list is incomplete, it is possible that the traffic was on another TGID at some point. I usually set my radio to "Search" or "Open" mode so it stops on any traffic on the site, and lock out the boring stuff or, if I am in the "figure out the user" mode, I lock out TGID's as they are identified so that I can find previously unidentified TGID's.
