Since the Comm-Ed system is a SmartZone networked trunked system I would put in the control channels for any sites that you can reasonably be able to hear, and if you have a BCD996T, BC15 or an XT series scanner, program them in as individual Sites so that you can share the talkgroup list. If you have one of these radios then you might as well just put in all the sites, it won't take up that much more memory.

If you are not sure what channels at a Site are Control Channels, you can just put in all the Site channels and the radio will find the active Control Channels.

TTTT I haven't really listened to the system much the last couple years, partly due to less traffic on it than before. A lot of the good stuff did move to Nextel.

Here in Joliet we use the "Orland Park" tower and CC's, as soon as the lights go out there on there trying to find the problem and during accidents when "poles" are struck there very quick in giving you the location, better than the cops!!!....Its very active here but they do complain about the signal clarity....

Default Comed

Comed utilize data, 900mhz trunking and conventional and nextel all of which are utilize in different capacities in different areas.

Food for thought, every area command center has a different approach.
