Default Programming ISP into Pro-197 via Win500

Hello, I am in Springfield (Sangamon County) and trying to listen to the ISP. I currently have District 9 talkgroups programmed. There are two towers in Sangamon county that I found via the Google Map of APCO25 for the state. The frequencies listed for one tower correlate with the frequencies for Springfield PD and Sangamon County PD. I programmed the second tower's frequencies as District 9 ISP and it seems to be working great. I heard all kinds of chatter this morning about a detail on I55 for speeding. How do I determine what the frequencies are for other ISP Districts? Do I just program all of the control frequencies for local towers in that district?

Thanks! I am trying to learn as much as I can and this stuff is definitely a learning curve.

Watch the Talkgroup ID's, and if you are a Paid Member of Radio Reference, you can download the info directly into your radio so that the actual names show up.

When you see the Talkgroup ID's they will appears as 4 or 5 digit numbers, like 13021 or 9032. Look to the Talkgroup Lists on the RR site for StarCom21 (* StarCom21 Statewide Illinois P25 Trunking System, Statewide, Illinois - Scanner Frequencies) or the CARMA StarCom21 Profile (http://www.carmachicago.com/profiles/StarCom21.pdf) and all the TGID's are listed in both locations. When you see and ID come up just compare it to the List.

Eventually you will want to program Text Tags for the TGID's in your area, this way the name (ISP Dist 9A) will show up instead of 13004.

Enjoy!

Looks like your using win500, if you become a Premium Subscriber on RR, here is a guide that will help to import from RR into win500.

I have text tags for my talkgroup ID's and I have that stuff all programmed via Win500. The problem I am having is knowing what control frequencies and what towers to program for each district of the ISP. Or does it matter? This is the part that has me thoroughly confused. My county/city have the control frequencies listed but I can not find anything but talkgroup ID's for District 9 or any other district. I can't find what control channels to use.

Did you go to the Home Page or RadioReference.com - Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference Starcom "board, look up the towers closest to your location and then install them as Systems (Uniden scanner or Object Trunk Systems in a GRE/RS scanner....Label them using the "text" feature and install the proper TGID's as Rich mentioned...Rich is responsible for the GREAT job on the CARMA site for every scanner person to enjoy listening to the ILL-Starcom....
