Default ISP Comericial vehicle enforcement

Hi, I would like to know if the ISP's comericial vehicle enforcement division uses STARCOM 21 talkgroups or do they use the VHF High band cahnnels? On a similiar note how come the CARMA profile still says that weigh stations still have low band raidos even though they got removed form ISP vehicles and posts? Finally, who usually staffs the weigh stations IDOT emploies or tropers? Please let me know thank you.

I hear the policing of commercial vehicles on IDTG9009 on Starcom...I also hear the weight scales on IDTG 9013 here in District5 and they seem to be manned by troopers?....I think only Rich can answer the Carma 42.50 issue....

The D-2 scales are manned by civilain inspectors. They use highband to call in or by phone.

It takes a lot of time and effort to maintain the CARMA Profiles, and things are done on a priority basis. The State Profile has been pushed to a lower priority since the StarCom21 Profile has been getting a fair amount of attention.

Yes, the low band stuff is all gone (except apparently in the far south part of the state where some use of 42.50 is being reported). One of these days I will get around to updating the State Profile, but family, work and other activities have been taking priority.

Commercial Vehicle Enforcement uses disposition "Patrol 2nd Division" on the District Chicago, Dist. 2-Elgin and Dist. 5-Joliet, and have heard them on all of the talkgroups at one time or another depending upon dispatching staffing. On the Dist. 15-Tollway Talkgroups, they use the acronym "Patrol INS"...and I read that in the CARMA profiles.. )

The scales are manned by civilian TWI's (Truck Weight Inspectors) who issue traffic citations. Occasionally, a trooper will be at the scale weighing a vehicle, and might stand by for bond, a ComCheck, or other paperwork from the driver's company.

TWI's aren't sworn troopers, but have been empowered by the State to enforce truck laws and issue traffic & equipment tickets upon an overweight vehicle's driver/operator.

The troopers are the only ones that can inspect a commercial vehicle. If I remember correctly the trooper must be a "level 3 D.O.T." to do a D.O.T inspection. I am a driver, and have had a few of these D.O.T. inspections. I was told by a D.O.T. trooper that the only ones that can inspect a truck mechanically is them. I'm pretty sure this is a federal law.
