The first NATO bomb scare has officially taken place at Michigan and Randolph when two bomb sniffing dogs alerted positively to an 07 Dodge van. The van has a Secret Service placard in the window and the agent responsible for the van is being sought out to deal with this. At this time, all traffic is shut down and is expected to open soon.

Earlier this AM there were a ton of ISP troopers from various districts in central IL going to Chicago under code "Nora Tom". I assume to assist with the NATO conference in some manner.

Zone 4, is busy as well as CW6 with motor cades, CW 7 TMA, one of the cook county inter op channels, the trunking system is hopping as well. Sounds like SC 21 is busy, as well as CTA bus supervisors for re-routs.

I'm getting a talkgroup 33552 on the Chicago trunked system. Anyone know what they're using it for? Sounds like either a talkaround or command channel to me, but I'm too far away to consistently get a solid read on the control channel, so I miss half the conversation some of the time.

The talk group is logistics 1 supplying food, and equipment to the "boots on the ground" sounds like the future fire main channel is being used by paramedic bike teams. All CFD fire suppression companies are still using VHF

B9 = METRO2 (453.750)
B8 = METRO1 (453.950)

I have been monitoring METRO2 on my handheld and yesterday was listening to ZONE4 online. Seems like METRO2 is the heart of CPD command. They keep referencing HOHMAN COMMAND (searching for details on this). Heard most credible info on METRO2, that seems to be appearing in the press. Earlier I heard about the Incident @ 57th and Lake Park / Metra well before media reports. Also heard about incident @ Mayor Rahm's house earlier today.

PS. Anyone else down south here have more information on a battery incident that took place near 80th Ave and 159th with multiple batteries. Heard something on ISPERN referencing 4 vehicles with people in Black/Grey hoodies, Bats, Numchucks, Clubs, etc. I did hear that a Tinley unit had one of the 4 cars stopped (RED ONE) near the Tin Fish in Tinley. Possibly Roving Anarchists?

ALL CFD NATO OPS are using Digital Fire-Main. Bike Teams are also on EMS-North Digital. If you happen to catch the Radio Check in times (12 hour shifts), you'll hear Batt. 31, Batt. 32, Batt. 33...Fire Cart Teams, Cut Teams...etc. They're using all the fire company programmed radios. They wanted all CFD on digital, but this sufficed the Secret Service/DHS etc.

What you're hearing on the VHF Channels is the day-to-day operations. All EMS operations are on digital.

"Dignitary Motorcades" are on the Starcom 21 system. Priority-A is the NATO Command channel. I've seen a few car-to-car Talkgroups as well.

The Federal Channels i've heard are encrypted. The CPD Trunking system is active. Marine Unit, and the TG 33552 everyone has been hearing is Tagged as "Logistics". Probably won't hear this after NATO.

Zone 4 is probably the best listening when their is some activity. Alot of dissapointment today as some protests were expected this morning at the Daley Center. The "Homan Command Post" is the central notification center. Those familiar with CPD probably know where it's at, but I don't think we should disclose that here. City-Wide 5 & 6 were dedicated to this morning's protests that never happened. According to what they"re ""expecting" tomorrow, this may be a little more active. Another 90 degree day in the forecast.

Lots of activity on the NORAD HUNTRESS frequencies tonight. 260.900 is being used mainly with Chicago Center contact on 317.400 and 353.550, SONIC 62 and SONIC 61 have been flying around the CAP and occasionally going to meet up with a tanker to refuel. Coming in loud and clear in the NW 'burbs.

Cool.
I hadn't heard anything during the last couple of visits so I was wondering if they changed something.
Thanks for the report.
