We had a helicopter to fire contact here last week on IREACH, They were not narrowband. I haven't listened to ISPERN on VHF since it's been on Starcom..

I know for sure IREACH isn't yet around Chicago, and neither is Point to Point. I don't believe ISPERN is yet either, at least for Districts 2, Chicago, and 15.

Quick update, just heard a IREACH call out of Kane County (couldn't tell which agency) but the base was using the narrowband DPL of 156, so apparently some agencies have indeed narrowbanded.

Last I heard it was a mixed bag. Some areas of the state are Narrow and some are not.

Narrowband for Point to Point will not be paid for by the state because there isn't many agencies left using it.

That's a shame - ISP Dist 17 uses it to talk to various agencies in LaSalle, Bureau, and Putnam counties. I also hear it from time to time in the Peoria areas

ISPERN AND IREACH are still in use, most of the counties have them patched now through S21. The IREACH governing board required that when the narrowbanding wave goes through your area, you are required to add a DPL of 156 (normal, not inverted) to IREACH. As for our area (southern IL), we have all been required to narrowband ISPERN and IREACH as of 5/1/2012.

It was up to each agency to narrowband their stuff, so it is possible that some didn't see the calendar and do such. Some agencies didn't budget for it, and just recently there were some grants to purchase radios that would operate narrowband. We are down to the 2 month deadline for the narrowbanding rules to go into effect. If an agency has waited, I would think they would want to hurry as much as possible, so they can deal with any issues. But IREACH and ISPERN are supposed to be narrowband, but some agencies might be waiting until closer to time.
