Question GMRS repeater in Chicago area

Hello to all,

I have a HT1250 UHF handheld radio. I was wondering if I can do some radio test see how it well it works when I go up north for 2 weeks. I see there is 2 for the repeaters.

Chicago - Park Ridge

Chicago - Downtown

I'll be by O'Hare Airport like 2-3 miles away from it. I do have a GMRS license.

I'm afraid I don't understand the question. Do you want to test your HT before you come to Chicago or... what? Can't you just program the radio up to TX on a GMRS chann and verify with a scanner? And then program up another channel at or near the receive freq to test RX?

I'm sure there's quite a few more than 2 GMRS repeaters in the Chi area, too.

I'm bringing my HT1250 with me up there for the vacation. I'm looking for the right P/L DPL tones also. I'm not able to program my radio on my laptop since its SP2 and the software don't think it will work. I'll be up in Oct. I won't have a scanner with me since I'm bringing my laptop, radio etc....

I won't have a scanner with me this year since I do have a hand held to bring up with. I want to make sure when I come up I have the right TX/RX CTCSS/DPL.

Well...

As far as the HT1250 and SP2 fo, I have it on several WinXP Pro and XP Home boxes, all with SP2 and it works fine. The warnings that SP2 won't work with many older programs means really that it probably wasn't tested.

As far as GMRS repeaters go up here, check out

for some local repeaters.
