Default GRE 600 problems with MECA

I'm trying to help out a friend program her new 600 for MECA.
I followed the examples in the GRE manual and the shortcut from the wiki here and still end up with only an occasional squelch break, sometimes followed by a brief sound of audio, less than half a second.

I installed PSRedit and was able to read the radio, then made a few changes to fix some tag names that I had duplicated. When I tried to load the scanner with the program the scanner got to 92% and died. PSRedit said it was 100% done.

The scanner rebooted and came up blank, so I programmed from the panel and still don't hear anything. I do see the scanner stop and show a TG ID, but no audio.

I did a brief search but did not find any bin files for MECA, but since the scanner doesn't seem to like being loaded from PSRedit I feel like I need to try Win500. Does anybody have a Win500 file for MECA?

This is usually caused by an older version of the Firmware on the PSR-600. You can check the Firmware versions by pressing the #3 key while the welcome message is on the screen when you turn the scanner on.

There are two ways to resolve this if you have an older firmware version.

Option 1: Download the latest firmware from the GRE America site at GRE America, Inc. - Powered By Kayako SupportSuite and update the scanner. The latest versions of firmware are CPU 1.6, and DSP 1.3. I would suggest updating both to the latest. This may help your reception as well.

Option 2: On the serial port configuration screen, check the option to add extra time while uploading. This will resolve the problem with uploading.

Mike
