Question US Steel - Gary, In.

I am in and out of US Steel Gary, In., East Chicago and Portage. I found the freqs. in the database for security but they don't seem to be the right ones or just not in use anymore. I have asked a few of the security staff if they could tell me what freq. they are running and wouldn't you know it I just get a blank look back. They have no clue! One of them did tell me they have a new system which is digital by way of a repeater and was telling me how crappie it was with trying to transmit from inside a basement. But he didn't know the freq. they were on. So I am asking if anyone may know the freqs. for the in house security at US Steel.

Default US Steel Gary on UHF LTR System?

As of a year or so ago it appeared that they were using a UHF LTR system (callsign WPVY408). Here are the freqs the license covered at that time:

451.9375
461.6375
461.6625
463.5875 - LCN 01?
464.2625
464.575
464.5875
464.825
464.8875

I know nothing else about this system other than the fact that I observed at least three public safety related talkgroups on what appears to be LCN 01 (463.5875) -

0-01-053 - Security "Main"
0-01-086 - Security "Private"
0-01-153 - Fire Department?

If things have remained the same as when I last monitored their comms, you could probably hear most of the security-related traffic by just listening to 463.5875 in conventional mode.

Sorry that I can provide no other information as I don't live within listening range. Hope this helps...

Happy listening,

Kevin
