Question Monitoring State Police in Vigo County

Hello! I'm traveling to Vigo County, IN on Saturday and I plan on listening to the Indiana State Police on the Indiana SAFE-T system. This will be the first time I have ever listened to SAFE-T and I will be monitoring both sites in Vigo county. I believe I have the system correctly programmed into my BCD396XT, as I have it set as being a "Mot Type II/P25" system on my 396XT. While I have been successful in programming in most of the talkgroups that I want to hear, I am not sure that I have programmed in the right talkgroups to hear the Indiana State Police in Vigo County. I programmed in all the talkgroups for ISP District 32 and ISP District 33. Do I have the right SAFE-T talkgroups programmed into my scanner to hear the ISP in Vigo County?

Just a quick note, I have my ham radio license so I am exempt from Indiana's scanner laws. I just thought I'd add that before somebody brought it up.

Yes, sounds like you have it exactly right. Vigo has 2 SAFE-T towers, 008 and 038. Although in Vigo County I dont personallly hear Dist 33 traffic on either tower but I don't use an outdoor antenna. Dist 32 is dispatched from Bloomington now but is heard on site 008 and 038. The mutual aid channel used the most around here is H MA 1. There's also some DNR South Region traffic on 008 and 038 as well if you are into that.

Talking Thanks!

Thanks, jamesa53! It's good to know that I'm on the right track. I've also got the mutual aid and DNR talkgroups programmed in, so I am also looking forward to hearing those. I am eagerly awaiting my chance to listen to a Mot Type II system because the only systems that I have ever monitored were either conventional or P25. Thanks again for your help!

I would suggest searching the talkgroups rather than scan. That way you might hear something you do not have programmed in.

Good advice, ScanNEIN. I usually use ID Search to make sure that I hear all the traffic on a specific tower. I'll definitely make sure that I remember to do that on Saturday. Thanks!
