Default Blackford County on SAFE-T

Blackford county testing and operational use of TG# 38160 (05 LE DISP) both city and county units. Haven’t heard any thing on the other Blackford county TGs.

I heard them this morning telling each other to "go to Car to Car" using 37488. That TG is listed in DB as:

37488 927 D 73 OPS 09 County Operations 09 Multi-Tac Shelby County

Default Blackford County

Hey guys, I am just getting into this a little more seriously. I live in Blackford County. I have a Radio Shack Pro-2018. I just got a live feed up today for my scanner. You can find it here: Live Scanner Feed - ********************* Waterfreak00 - Waterfreak2009 - Wayne Wyatt I have not been able to hear the police for a little over a week now. I am guessing that this is because of them switching over to the trunked system. I thought that I read somewhere that it was possible to scan trunked with an analog scanner, although I cant seem to find where I read it. Is this possible on my scanner? If so how? Thanks for any info you can give me.

You would be able to scan trunked with some analog scanners, but will not be able to hear any digital talkgroups. The bad thing about that is, Blackford Co is all on digital talkgroups. As is pretty much everyone else around you other than Delaware County.

The next question everyone usually asks is what digital scanner is best to get? Personal preference, but I like my GRE and I have tried them all out. For digital, it would have to be either a 500 or 600.

Default Ok, another question

I went and "borrowed" my dads scanner because he never uses it, its a Radio Shack pro-2052. I have no idea whether or not I programed the trunking frequencies right. On the Safe-t database page, I put in the primary control frequency for Blackford. I did program it in trunking mode. However, I just heard dispatch talking to one of the county units, I could hear dispatch fine but all I could hear from the county unit was noise. Are there more frequencies that I need to enter?

The noise is the digital signal. 2052 is not digital, and their talkgroup is. As for hearing dispatch, you might of been hearing them on VHF if they're simulcasting.

Ok, now I am really confused.. Isn't trunking = digital? What can I get on the pro-2052 that I couldn't get on the 2018 that I have? (In Blackford of corce)

No, you can trunk a non digital system and/or non digital talkgroups. In Blackford County, you would not really getting anything more with the 2052 vs the 2018. Other than INDOT (which is analog)

The only thing Blackford County has trunked is on the SAFE-T System and all of their talkgroups are digital. They have switched to SAFE-T. I have not listened enough to know if dispatch is still simulcasting on VHF. If they are, you could hear dispatch, but you would not hear the cars. You would also still hear fire and EMS on VHF
