Yes, it's works great to, it was amazing for being able to talk to the EMA on the VHF, EMS on the UHF and Fire/Police on the 800 side by just changing the channel knob.

Extremely easy as a normal VHF would do. They programmed all the NOAA Channels on it. and they had a good reception during the whole event

So if someone represented himself as an agent of a fire department, and received several hundred dollars of weather software on a purchase order with fire department letterhead, does that mean he would pay that bill?

Sounds like misrepresentation and fraud to me. I wouldn't even go there.

The fax PO he sent looks darn official for the FD he told me he worked for... Needed the stuff rushed so I sent it priority to Puerto Rico (which is darn expensive.) Called after no payment for a month, and he said his accountant would be getting the check out that week. A search finds that he represents "his" fire department to other firefighting companies to in order to purchase public safety equipment.

That was over a year ago... Now he doesn't answer the phone or respond to emails or PM's.

Really? Because right on Thales home page is a link where Qualified Agencies can request a demo kit.

My guess is PRRESCUE submitted a request to Thales as his fire department.

Hey Mancow, Besides the pics at the top of the thread, I believe in one of the earlier threads there was a company advertisement flyer.

To me it looks like PR/Rescue saw the Thales at a trade show. I am signed up for a Thales demo too and have not heard back. I have also corresponded with Harris and am getting a demo scheduled for theirs as well.

I'd ask my Moto rep for a demo of the APX but I am mad at him. Why was I paying $5k for top tier single banded radios and with APX (and because of the competition from Harris and Thales) I'll pay about $6k for dual bands.

Because people are stupid and pay what ever Motorola demands for it's radio's. Why do you think
that the military has switched and are now buying EF Johnson portables by the truck load. The
last order I heard about was for 75,000 portables. That is not chump change. Plus the EFJ
portables cost less.

We get those type of requests for mobile data hardware as well. "I work for xx fire, can I get a demo?" Usually we find that they are just self-important whackers with no $$ and a big gadget appetite.

I thought the EFJs are replacing the BK PRC-127 handhelds, something that Motorola has never competed on.
