Default New to Radios Help Please

hello, i am considering getting some radios for our construction operations. we will be operating in a moderate rugged terrain up to twenty miles total distance apart. we have always had cellular service, but don't for this job. i will need about 8 radios and don't want to spend a lot of money as they radios may not be used after this season.

i see some reasonable priced VHF radios on ebay.

i don't know which radios require licenses and which don't.

i am sure there are many other posts like this. please feel free to point me towards those posts if needed.

thanks.

your not gonna like this answer - but,

stick with the cellphones if possible

you are not gonna find any cheap radios (even though they may advertise differently)
portable or mobile that is gonna give you 20 mile range via simplex unless you are
communicating from mt top to mt top with no obstructions in between.

If you get even a faint cell signal you can rent repeaters from your cellular provider.
