How to Program this Ham Radio.

I can't find anywhere on the radios them self on what kind they are, or what models they are. I have no clue. But this is the information that is on the Specification pages.

Now if anyone could help me and point me in the right direction to where I can go to find the right programming cable and the software drivers for it, or help me figure out how to manually program the radios, I would really appreciate it. I am on the local fire department where I live. We have about 6 of these same radios that need to be programmed to our frequency and no one at the fire house can figure out how to do it manually. So since I am fairly good with computers we figured this would be the best way to go, and it would be nice to have around the Fire barn so we could program the local EMS teams to them, along with the Police Department. Search for software and cable for that radio. Google should be able to help. The pictures in the ad clearly show a cable and software so I'd also recommend contacting the vendor you purchased them from.. And these aren't Ham Radios per se, even though they may be able to operate in that band

The Amzon ad says that it uses the software for Kewood radio KPG87D, that is the software for the TK2202 radio.

The Amazon ad also shows that it came with a cable, so if you truely bought the whole package, then you only need the software.

But I have to ask why you got cheap unkown radio equipment to use in emergency service's use?

yeah I know. But that is where the seller screwed me, They sent the whole package except for the USB cord and the Software C.D. and you know it just seemed like a good deal at the time, I work for a volunteer fire department so I don't get paid for what I do. and right now money is kinda tight. I got some problems going on with my place of employment. But yeah, thanks for the information. I appreciate it.

Clearly not ham radios. Although they cover the ham ranges, there are many other services involved here. And with 1 1/2 star ratings, I would have avoided these radios like the plague even if they were...

These are not the radios that get carried into service with us. We got these radios for us to have our own private radios that we can keep at our house or in our trucks. What ever we choose. And no we got some nice Kenwood's that we use while we are in service. I wouldn't trust these things by a fire. They would probably melt right off of my side. These are just for people who choose not to buy a car radio for there vehicle.

Cheap Chinese products like these are coming in fast. I just bought a Baofeng dual band hand held and even though it's not a Yaesu or Kenwood, it's a darn good radio for 42 bucks. Amazing as a matter of fact. Is it FCC approved? Hard to believe it is with it being totally opened up through the commercial and ham bands as well as the marine band, and throughout the uhf business spectrum too. But some say it is approved. In any case, seems like they are doing their best to put a dent in the 2 way radio market. Some of these Chinese products coming out over the last 6 months or so are not too bad for what they cost (as much as it pains me to say so), but I guess when the pieces fall where they will as far as the FCC is concerned, we will then find out what the facts really are about these things.

These radios specified by the OP probably are in the category of the Baofeng radios. I just bought a cheap Chinese MK808 android dongle to add onto my tv for 52 bucks and it is a totally amazing performer. I smell flooding many markets with these things, with China trying to push out Japan in a few cases. It's pretty mind boggling. Another cheap device I just got is what must be illegal as heck, a 7 watt FM broadcast transmitter for 80 bucks that performs amazingly well. I don't know what to do with it now that I have it, it's just sitting there on a shelf. It is capable of broadcasting out of the FM band right up into the aircraft AM band and that really kind of concerns me why they are allowing those to be sold on Amazon without regard to any licensing or whatever. All of these cheap gadgets were bought on Amazon.

Go figure.

These radios are certified by the FCC for operation under several of the the FCC services (part 95; part 90; etc). Depending on the particular model and frequency these radio REQUIRE some kind of license to operate legally (Amateur/Ham, GMRS, Business, Public Safety etc.).

One of the other things every one is to beware of, if that radio never needs any kind of factory support or parts, you will never get it.

Just like Blackbox, HYT, THRA radios, you MAY get the programing software, but that ONLY allows you to add/deleate frequency's.

Any other service and you might as well throw it away as it will cost as much to send it to the ONLY service location as it will to buy a new one.

I know, I had one of these. Been there, done that.

Threads are not deleted just so someone can unsubscribe. You unsubscribe by clicking on "Thread Tools" at the top of the thread and choosing Unsubscribe.

I would also recommend going in to your UserCP and turning thread subscriptions on by default.

I'm moving this to Industry Discussion since the radio doesn't seem like its market is specifically Amateur Radio.

I sent you a private message describing how to stop those emails. You don't need to delete your account you can turn notification options on and off pretty easily.
