• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello, all!

I did several searches before posting this and couldn't find what I was looking for, so here it goes...

Does anyone make software that allows a user to TX/RX on multiple radios (specifically portable radios) via multiple USB soundcards? Additionally, does anyone make that software with selected/unselected audio options? (basically like a radio console, only software driven and using USB soundcards instead of tone-remotes)

I need to be able to monitor (and transmit) on about ten radios for a volunteer event. My thought is that I could have each radio tied to its own USB soundcard and use software to control sel/unsel audio and centralize the microphone. I fear what I'm looking for doesn't exist...

Thanks for any input!

I'd be interested to know more about this for base radios, I can imagine something like a dispatcher program where all the radios are visible on the computer screen.

I know some people who used older Motorola MW-520 mobile data terminals for this. There was still software, from Motorola that was made to control three radios connected to the terminal.

You may be able to find some information on the MW-520 forums online.

Many police cars and fire trucks now carry three or more mobiles and the computer interface becomes the "control" head of the radios. I do not know if these were made to work with anything besides XTL-5000 mobiles though.

Just quickly googling, I find things like this.

Still have to have a TRA at the radio end, but you just have a sound card adapting to 4-wire at your end.

Is that more your style, or are you looking for something that does away with 4-wire control altogether?

I expect your real problem will not be audio switching and control, but having the 10 different handheld radios on different frequencies interfering with each other.
