• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

New user here, looking for some help with Midland programming software.

I just installed the Midland programming package and have had no trouble with MRFP (firmware) or MRA (adjustments). However, I'm banging my head on a brick wall trying to get MRP P25 to cooperate with the dozens of ST-III's I need to update.

When I open the app, it starts off checking database file, which I have not loaded yet so it errors out. Then a pop-up window appears as "SQL Connection Login" and needing a username/password. It gives a default username of "sa" and blank password. If I cancel out 3 times or enter an arbitrary password, it errors out and locks me out of all programmer options, leaving me red in the face. I've tried numerous times to get through this or find a workaround but so far no luck. I've created blank databases and loaded my custom builds and pointed the software to those databases but the issue remains. I'm not even sure how to set username/password in my builds so I'm rightfully confused. I must be missing something somewhere, but I can't seem to find any sort of help in the app, online, Midland site, or in the manuals.

Midland tech support is rather... shaky. My understanding is that they have ONE lead engineer dealing with tech issues and I've already left a few colorful voicemails. Not finding much help there so I'm hoping there may be folks around here that can shed some light on my dilemma.

Not sure if these elements matter, but I'm on a Windows 7 64x machine

Any help is greatly appreciated!

FOLLOW-UP:

After speaking with Lanny at Midland Tech Support, came to learn that the SQL connection issue is a problem caused by Windows 7 conflict error.

The only current workarounds are to get your hands on an older version of the software (pre-6.08.0001) or to use a machine with Win8, 8.1, or 10.

Hope this helps anyone else out there!
