Pott County P25 system - YOU READ IT HERE FIRST!
Good evening everyone!
While driving home today, I was searching the 800MHz. band and ran across a new P25 control channel!
859.7375 appears to be broadcasting intermittent Control Channel traffic (mostly DAT, but some on and off LNK) on system 0144 (ORION) with a site number of 114. So, it would appear that work on bringing the Pott County system online is progressing quite nicely.
This frequency is part of callsign WPQB235 and WPUL321.
Looks like the frequencies will be:
856.2625, 856.7375
857.2625, 857.7375
858.2625, 858.7375
859.2625, 859.7375
860.2625, 860.7375
I'll be listening intently in the coming days and will report any active TGIDs or other events.

Hi George. Have you heard any activity recently? It would appear that your thread was hijacked, and moved to the Iowa forum. If I don't hear from you, I will email you about this.

Howdy ObiJohn and all!
I haven't heard anything since that first set of signals! It must've been a very limited test that they were doing.

Motorola was testing one of the sites that day. They still have 2 towers to build. Then they can start testing the entire system.
Look for a October/November commissioning.
Apparently LSM requires a lot more tweaking than I am accustomed to in 4 level digital simulcast.

Howdy, everyone!
Well, it would appear that Site 114 is on the air again!
Primary CC is 859.7375 with Secondary CC's of 859.2625, 858.7375, and 858.2625.
TG 1005 was active yesterday afternoon and evening with Radio Tech-type of traffic. 1005 should be "Motorola 5" on the rest of the system, however Unitrunker doesn't show any "peers" for this part of the system yet, indicating that the Pott County controller hasn't yet been networked into the rest of the system.
Should be a good Summer of listening as the system comes alive!

Hijacked? No.... At least not till this comment. Moved to the Iowa forum? Yes. Council Bluffs / Pott County is in Iowa, not nebraska. If anyone likes, we can meet and go see the state border... then see which side Pott County is on.
Further debate should be directed to this thread:

Pott County Equipment
Howdy, everyone! Just an update on equipment!
I was reading the Minutes of the Pott Country Board of Supervisors today and found this item from their May 27th meeting:
Quote:
Motion by Knauss, second by Leaders, to approve a contract with Motorola for radio equipment for fire
departments, and law enforcement offices for $4,361,778.00, and to also approve a contract with D & D
Communications Corp. for installation of radio equipment for $249,778.00. Unanimous vote. Motion
carried.
|
Looks like they're getting subscriber headed this way and will have D&D do their installs in the absence of Mobile Communications.
Has anyone heard if encryption will be used on this part of the system?

Not at this point, George, however I can get an answer.
BTW, Mobile Comm had an auction 2 weeks ago, I should have went, but I would be homeless and Wifeless if I came home with new toys!
I am surprised Mobile Comm went under.

A couple of guys around here spent ONLY $250 and ended up coming home with two pickup truck loads and a trailer full of equipment. They ended up having to leave some equipment there since they didn't have anything left to haul it home with. You missed out!

I have a question,
Are they only going to use this one site? Pott county is a very large county, and will certainly need more than just one site on 800mhz... Or is Pott County not going to use it, just CB?

Howdy, Jason and all!
Pott. county will be served by a Simulcast Site, which will contain multiple towers. All of the towers will have the same voice and control channels, which is identical to how the Wasington County Simulcast (113) portion works.
