Default ISP Planes

Sounds like the plane(s) are going up today. Have heard some radio checks from the ISP cars. Must be going to do some extra enforcement for the weekend. I have heard both 458.7000 and 458.9500 so far this morning. Mike

Jason, sorry I should have been a little more specific. They mentioned 380 (so assume CR-Iowa city), and also West of Grinnell on 80 Eastbound. I havent been listening for a couple of hours, had some errands to run. Anyone else hear anything? Mike

This weekend is one of the many STEP (Special Traffic Enforcement Program) events of the year. It is a state program, so it's all over. They are paying special attention to seat belt violations, but they're not letting anything else slide either.

In Des Moines they are also paying special attention to noise violations, in addition to special attention to seat belt violations.

Lots of extra help here in Marshall county. As Newsphotog said, its one of the STEP events, lots of seatbelt tickets (among other things). I did hear the ISP plane just for a brief moment this morning on 458.7000, didnt catch the location. The pilot was talking about a silver SUV , passing and speeding dangerously. Mike

The ISP isn't wasting time this morning with getting their bird up in the air as i've already have hard 458.700 at least 5 times in the 10 minutes or so that i've had the scanner on this AM.

The birds are up and going tonight, not sure were though. I'm sure the ISP will be busy all weekend.

What PL tone do they use on 458.700? I get a birdie on that frequency so I always have to lock it out or the scanner hangs up on that freq.

They usually do not use a tone.
