Good job! But who owns this system and zone controller? Oh, OPPD, OMAHA PUBLIC POWER DIST, hence why it was in the Nebraska forum.

Its a huge vast system, but Pott co Iowa had no one else to play with, and since they're a huge part of the Omaha Metro, they needed to come on board with the rest of 'em.

Racom is based in marshalltown Iowa, but discussions regarding their systems in Minnesota or nebraska don't belong in the Iowa forums....

This thread has nothing to do with RACOM. This is about ORION. This thread is all about Iowa. ORION will soon be the defacto system in Council Bluffs , and Pottawattamie County.

ORION is a P25 Smartzone system in the Omaha Metro.

Please refer to earlier posts about this system. CB, and Pott, County will have a Smartzone controller
and a multisite P25 simulcast system in use, and it will be tied into the NEBRASKA ORION system.

RACOM is out of the picture in this. It is single source Moto. ORION is all about interoperability in the Metro.

Look for a November implementation timeframe.

I understand the difference. Pott County is in Iowa. The nebraska forum is for radio information in Nebraska. The Iowa forums is for radio information in Iowa. The Racom comparison was just that... A comparison of another multi-state network and how it is discussed in the forums...

Further debate should be directed to this thread:

From what I've heard, the Pottawattamie County P25 is integrated with the ORION system?
Subsequently, that should mean the controller managing the system for Council Bluffs and
Pottawattamie County will be in Omaha and under the maintenance of the Omaha Public Power
District, correct?

Wirelessly posted (MINE!!!!11!!oneone: BlackBerry8130/4.5.0.77 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

I will grant you that, but how big does a system have to be before it is broken up?

I againg give RACOM as example. The system is owned, and the controller is located in marshalltown Iowa.

That does not mean that the Iowa forum is an appropriate place to discuss their operations in Omaha.

BUT BUT BUT Iowa is close enough to Omaha!!!

Nope, sorry.

Yep, it's faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, and more money.
