Yes, it is actually quite active! I am working on a way to catch the GIDs off the RS485 stream and get them to load into the stream. I saw a post a while back where someone had done a lot on a remote control program for the M7100, maybe i can get in touch with them to just get the code to catch GID numbers.

On a side note, Polk Co Ops GID 1801 is set to priority, so if traffic drops and suddenly goes to another convo, that is why. I run my personal radios like that but if it becomes annoying i can change it back to first-come first-served.

Are the Marshals in the clear then? Or do they use Provoice, or some form of encryption? I actually caught that group (1827) once , but the conversation was so short, I thought they were the Army Corp. of Engineers at Saylorville! Mike

Nope they are in the clear. I do have about 8 or 9 talkgroups on this radio that is AEGIS, they sound kinda muffled almost like they are underwater. AEGIS voice is very crappy!

The US Marshals use that GID primarily to talk with Polk Co units that are assisting them. Sometimes they will use it as a chat channel. I think they think it is secured, since not many cars have it in their radio. Same with the ATF channel, no telling what you will hear there!!

I will keep my ears open! Sounds like a good group to monitor. By the way, have you noticed how active the prison in Ft. Dodge has been on the Marshalltown site? Mike

Yes I did, yesterday was an excellent day to be monitoring the Marshalltown site. On my way to work there were over 100 police cruisers parked at the Best Western hotel right off hwy 30. Mostly K-9 units. My guess is there was some kind of expo or statewide meeting. Cars from all over the state were there, Sioux City, ISP, Marshalltown PD, Des Moines.

Should have seen the affiliation log on etrunker, looked like we were being inundated with law enforcement!!

They are having the regional K-9 trials here. I actually had to break out a 3rd scanner to monitor the local tower, so many TGs using this site! Mike

That makes sense then, i figured it was something along those lines. Not sure why M-ville would be up on the mtown tower unless they have a K-9?

I know the article in the Times Republican said there were 33 teams from Iowa. I think its an all Iowa event, I could be wrong though. Mike

I don't think Mitchellville has a K-9. But one of their cars (suits) might have been there to observe.

side note: I work for the DOC
