Default Live Audio Feeds - What do you provide?

Figured I would start a new thread since RR has acquired SA. Thought maybe Burner50 might actually get around to cleaning up the old one but he never did

I provide-
Benton/Tama/Iowa/Poweshiek law enforcement. This includes all municipal PD's except Vinton PD as they are encrypted. I removed Iowa State Patrol because I was picking up so much crap on them that you could never hear anything else.

Also, may I make a suggestion to the provider of Cedar Rapids, TAKE MARION OUT!!! If I want to listen to marion, I'll pull up the other feed. CRPD has too much traffic to have other things mixed in.

Default Des Moines RACOM

I provide the Des Moines RACOM site feed. If it is Polk county or shows up on the site, expect to hear it on this feed, digital and all!

Also, feed is open for suggestions, something annoying or you are missing something, I can add or remove easily!

I provide one feed for Fayette, Buchanan and Bremer Counties as well as State Patrol for this area.

I provide a second feed that monitors the RACOM towers at Oelwein and Waterloo(when band conditions allow).

I am getting 2nd P25 unit so I will be able to help in the CR area, in that, I think I will provide CRPD, FIRE, as stand alone feed. Between the two P25 units I should still be able to play as I see fit and keep the feed just CRPD and Fire. I will also have the Linn County EMA and the storm spotters that I can pick up, along with any other EMA from other near counties. During bad weather if I am home I will have the EMA PRI so people can get the weather reports from the field. I might also pause a channel if there is a chase going on so none of the action is missed(that is if the wife lets me go to the man cave and play) The only time my feed would come down is if the computer puked on itself, a tornado takes the house away or like last year the flood caused Qwest to have big problems for a week or two with DSL. My DSL is on UPS and Computer is on seperate UPS and as long as I am home I can get power to it with inverters and keep everything running. I have learned if the power is out the wife still likes to surf on the laptop and if she is happy I am happy If I see the other feeds coming down for whatever reason I might adjust what I put up so the area is covered.

As a side note I might put one feed on left side and another on right side? I know other are doing this I will have to see what I have for sound cards that I can play around with but that would be a cool solution to adding two feeds with one link.

By the way kc0jar what type of encryption does vinton use is it like that old State Patrol crap, man I hated that in the 90's click click squwakkkkkk repeat I know Vinton is the hub of crime in Iowa guess they don't want the cow tippers to know they are coming. haahahha!

Please provide any feedback. Nothing will happen for a couple weeks as I am going on vacation for a few days and also need to get another computer running as I don't want to use my home built HTPC for the link as it sucks a ton of power.

Thanks Brian

I'm not sure, I'm not very 'up' on encryption. Since I can't monitor it I really don't care about what it's called . Whatever it is, it's actual encryption, not just a voice scrambler like it sounds like you're describing. Benton County has an encrypted channel too.

I provide all talkgroups for the city of Pearland where I am a vol. FF. I use it on my phone when I don't have my scanner or at work when I'm out of range and several other FFs benefit from using it on their phones as well. Some citizens seem interested in it as well.

I have the Dubuque, IA, Grant County, WI and JoDaviess County, WI feeds. I'll also be providing the Iowa City trunked system in the next 2 weeks. It's currently online just not Radioreference.

To whoever is running the Southwest Iowa ISP Feed:

Please lock out area 3. Springbrook doesnt really come in very well from the stream location. You cant hear it, just static.

Also Please add LEA into your scan. We missed the fastest police chase in Iowa's recorded history wednesday (188 MPH!), because the chase was being called on Glenwood LEA.

Yep, An airplane out of Atlantic I believe. Thats who had him to begin with.

It was IHP, with an assist from OPD, CBPD was just plain confused...

Ok any interest in the RACOM from the CR area if so I will have yet another scanner that I am going to use for EDAC or whatever, everything but P25 at my desk I have 2 for P25 so that is covered . I can put on Racom and whatever else maybe RACOM and Marion PD and FIRE?? That way the CR feed that is provided can drop the Marion or whatever else that might be double feeds? I can add to the Racom feed as it isn't too busy in CR but does catch a few fish from time to time. Maybe Racom and Linn County Emergency Man channel for severe weather?

I could also also a 2nd feed if needed to help split up some of the Linn County feeds that have many departments on each feed. Just a thought I enjoy what is up so I don't want to sound like I don't want the feeds that are up to stop Just trying to help if I can. I know it can be hard to follow CR PD at night or on the weekends with the other departments on there. If I can figure out how to get the 2nd sound card method to work I can put one on right side the other on left.

There are still lots of counties and cities that are not represented under the live scanners for Iowa, so if you have a scanner and would like to become a feed provider just press the (become a feed provider) button under live scanner.
