Default Scanner recomendations?

Been a long time since I bought a scanner ( RS Pro-93). What is a decent affordable scanner to use in the Black Hawk County area? I am looking for base or mobile type. Thanks in advance!

Are you just going to listen to Black Hawk county? Or do you want to listen to CR also?

If you dont want or need digital, I would go with the Uniden 346xt----GREAT scanner and tons of features. The RS Pro 164, or GRE PSR300 are also very nice.

If you DO want digital everybody has their favorites but I really dont think you could go wrong with any of the big 3. The Uniden 396XT,the GRE PSR500, or the RS 106 (pretty much the same as the GRE model---they make the Pro-106).

These are all handheld, and the newest models from these companies. I dont have any base scanners, so I will let someone else discuss them. Look up the features in the WIKI section, that may help in your choice. Mike

Sorry , should have said the first 3 listed (analog) are in the $150.00-200.00 range. The digitals , unless on sale, be prepared to spend $450-500. Mike

You can find a good New/Used digi if you look around and be patient, you can probably pick one up for 200 - 300.00 and sometimes even cheaper, i got mine for under 200.00.
