RACOM sites being reporgrammed

Heard this morning, just moments ago, a RACOM tech on Tech Ops GID 1019 talking to Net Control that he is finishing reprogramming a site with new frequencies. Did not catch what site it was yet, it was Unit 108 and I believe he is over near Quad Cities. I'll be staying close to the radio today see if i can hear what else is changing!! Anyone in that area that can confirm anything new?

I have been picking up quad cities medical and never have in the past so that would't surprise me. I hear them fromtime to time say they are going to program their radio to listen for the night to see if there is any problem(guessing what they were trying to fix that day). Have to see if I pick anything up tonight as to extra traffic on my slow channels.

They were in Dubuque the other day reprogramming. They programmed some new frequencies and had them active for about a week, but it seems they reverted back to the old ones for now. I've also heard them talking about other area sites.

I just got an e-mail,from a friend in that area today, that told me the frequencies for System 30 have changed again.

I couldn't catch the whole convo because naturally I didn't have TechOps as priority. There seems to be some freq plan changes goin on over there, they mentioned doing the same at the Bettendorf site maybe? I'm too far away to be any good if someone has the new freq list for the database.

Anyone been hearing what sounds like low battery beeps on the Marshalltown or Waterloo systems? I have noticed it a couple of times when Air Care 2 keys up. Its not you typical EDACS sound, much louder and clearer. I did here the Techs talking about new 7100s for somebody, and that they would need to get them installed soon. Mike

I hear odd beeps all the time sometimes I do get the 5 beeps but can't recall beeps before, I do hear that on some systems when the system hasn't gone into standby mode and someone keys it will beep or make maybe that Nextel beeeppppp, usually when dispatch gets done talking and officer responds guessing that maybe a repeater is pissed that he didn't wait for dispatch to release their transmission.

Also anyone having issues with CR towers guessing south seems like they turned the power down on one of the two towers. I am having all kinds of problems trunking or getting anything but static I hit scan and it pulls the other tower and it is fine. Right now I have both towers on the same bank as it hasn't been a problem, but something is a changing.

I also did pick up IC tower in Marion with my tv antenna with a 12 foot patch cord standing on the roof. Gives me hope that when IC goes racom towers that they will crank up the power and I might with the correct amps be able to pick up IC towers.

Ok I just heard a beep from Lifecom Base before they started talking. Now all I am going to hear is beeps whos fault is this!!!!

I am pretty familiar with the EDACS beeps and sounds , thats almost all I have in my area. These beeps I heard were VERY different, hard to describe. Might have been the techs, testing something really not sure. Almost sounded like a single tone on a fire page, really different from the usual. My wife thinks I hear things all the time though !LOL Racoms HQ is only 2-3 miles from me. Mike

Hmm been monitoring the Des Moines dite all day today, nothing out of the ordinary here. You said it was on the Life-Net GID? Does it sound maybe like an emergency trigger? Thats a long high pitched tone before any transmission.

Adam, I have heard it with other groups, but mostly with Life-Net. Its a series of beeps, maybe 1 sec. on 1 sec. off. It is MUCH louder and way different than the normal ending beeps for an EDACS system. I actually had to make sure it was coming from my scanner---- and it was. LOL If you have a smoke detector it sounded like that when the low battery warning beeps go off. I have never heard it until last weekend. I should say that it always preceeds the conversation. The TG will show, the beeps will sound, and then the conversation begins. I suppose it could be some type of emergency trigger, but it is a series of beeps (the beeps are longer than the usual EDACS ones also). Mike

Sounds like the warning tones used on some of the IL Mutual Aid calls around Dubuque. A series of tones then the messages.

On another note, system 30 has a new LCN and frequencies now.

also have the 5 beeps on 14-142 i think it was there was no sound just like it was keyed up then a couple minutes would go by by and 5 beeps. Happened many times Friday or Saturday night as I was tryiing to figure out freescan. Have to add a new toy to the collection but thought I would figure out the program first.

I agree, I'm a regular visitor to that area and Yes, the person who mentioned that they've rebanded, please when you have time, in the spirit of the group and in sharing, please update us with a new list for System 30 (DBQ).

On a similar topic, it seems RACOM has moved their 'sensitive convos' to a new AEGIS GID. Anyone in the M-town area confirm the new GID? Probably need to be running eTrunker or equiv to see it. I will be up there later this week hopefully i can get the scoop.

Also awaiting the new LCN lineup for System 30. Thank you in advance!!

LifeNet started dispatching on Omaha's P25 system recently. Wonder if this may have anything to do with the beeps your hear.
Here in the Omaha area I do not hear any beeps, except at the end of the transmission. I do hear the paging tone for crew alerting, it seems like they only use if for crews in Omaha I didn't' hear a paging tone for when the alerted the Norfolk crew for a call.

With the AEGIS stuff we are pretty much s.o.l. right? Unless running an e-trunker? I have noticed the police seem a little "less busy" lately.

KG4WHM, you might be right, it may have something to do with the P25 system. I will listen more closely and see if its mostly LIFE-NET dispatched to or from the Omaha area.

Yea, unfortunately unless you have a good hookup, AEGIS or ProVoice takes casual monitoring out of the picture.... Havent heard anything as far as beeps on the Mtown site while im at work, but i dont monitor a lot of Life-Net stuff...
