KCCI TV Broadcast Frequency

Does anyone know for certain what frequency KCCI, Channel 8, broadcasts on? The VHF frequency should be 196.25 MHz. To the best I can tell, KCCI went to UHF for awhile and they should now be on 196.25 MHz. I need to do a antenna install for my dad, but I need to know whether to purchase a VHF or UHF antenna.

KCCI appears to have moved back to channel 8 for their final digital tv channel so you should probably need a VHF antenna. Unless you're really looking to get a single channel antenna for some reason, I'd recommend a standard VHF/UHF TV antenna so you'd be covered regardless of what they may do in the future. There have been issues with some DTV stations that broadcast on VHF, causing them to move back to UHF.

Many stations are still working on their transmitter settings and antennas to get them in their final configurations. It takes time to coordinate the schedules to remove old antennas and replace them with new ones to handle the full power DTV signals in the primary tower locations, since many stations used temporary lower power antennas in non optimal locations during the transition.

Yes, we are wanting just one specific station only. My dad lives in the sticks. All his other stations will being coming in from another direction with another antenna, this one being a UHF only antenna.

I don't care for this digital stuff. Before, he never had any problems, he had a little static, but now its all or nothing.

I did the install this past Sunday. Fabulous results, he is now getting 5,8, and 13 out of Des Moines and the same antenna pointed towards Des Moines is getting 4 on the back side of the antenna out of Sioux City.

I know from past experiences that it is rough trying to get reception up there ................


Glad your install went well.......................I hope you put an amp inline because when the rain/snow comes the reception will get very spotty.

That area is fringe for DSM stations
