Does Johnson County Fire Dispatch use a PL code? I have them in my scanner but I am picking up Warren County IL also. I'd rather not listen to them.

Yes, it is. Set "audio type" to "analog only" and "tone" to "none". This will not fix your problem however. Best thing to do is see if deparment in IL is using a tone and use the tone lock out feature.

I've noticed recently that JCOM has moved the LAW channels around.

It appears that Law 2 is now Law 3 (un-enc) and Law 3 is now Law 2 (enc), can anyone else here confirm? (I'm basing my observations on the chatter that dispatch using.)

That would make sense why I don't hear anything on LAW 2 anymore and I have LAW 3 locked out. I will have to un-lock LAW 3.

Yes, they do. They will patch it in for mutual aid calls.

I spent last night at the Highlander, recovering from surgery. I took along my HP-1, expecting to hear a lot of traffic, but there was actually very little. Are the agencies in Johnson Co all running primarily encrypted these days?

My understanding may be faulty, but if RadioReference marks a channel as encrypted, Uniden no longer downloads it. If you keep your HP1 up to date, I would guess that channel would no longer appear in your HP1 data unless you have it in a favorites list. If they then swap channels that are encrypted, you might be missing in-the-clear traffic because it's not being scanned. Expert opinion on this appreciated.

Aside from all that, when I made the trip there about a year ago (at night), it was just really dead.

LAW 1 has been in the clear from day one. This is the dispatch GID for everyone. On the 2/3 shift on the weekends, IC moves to LAW 3 which is also in the clear.

For the most part, ICPD, CPD, UHPD, NLPD, ISP and JCSO are in the clear. Other than NCIC checks, CAR-TO-CAR, NARCS, SPECIAL OPS and "EVENT" channels, most everything is in the clear. The only exception is UI DPS. All DPS operations have been encrypted.

JCAS and JC fire departments are still in the clear as they were pre-JCOM
