Had hits on 151.1375 (156.7) and 155.7525 (156.7) today. No audio, just a constant beeeeeep when keyed up.

The audible tone has been off and on at random times for at least the past week to two weeks or so. Pretty loud and annoying when you're driving down the road and that comes on...

They've been doing crossband testing all day today, really good, loud, clear signal on all bands. Sounds like they are also testing coverage, going from grid square to grid square.

All of the frequencies listed in that flyer on DMPD's website appears to be correct, including the 156.7 Hz tone on all frequencies.

Were you picking up the tone on the RX side? They were testing early last week and I wasn't picking up a tone on the output. I agree it sounds great, they have some really good coverage with that many voted sites.

Yep, I was able to pick up the tone on the output. I use tone squelch as much as I can. I was actually reprogramming radios today when I noticed I was picking it up.

I'm hearing the V-Call (155.7525) side of things up here in Waverly, that's pretty good distance.

Are they going to be using it for the fair, or is this just general testing?

I hope the system isnt THAT large of an area...

Polk county isn't the ONLY ones using the V-TAC frequencies.

I was mobile, it wasn't full scale up here and I lost the signal a few times, but at other times I could pick up the testing and the grids that they were moving around to. I can also confirm the 156.7 tone as that is how my radio is programmed.

I believe it's just general testing. One of the guys on the testing crew told me it will take about a week to finish testing.

Yep, got it to work with tone decode today. Listened to them testing for a while today. I guess they just had the tones off or different last week? Sounds great tho, the coverage is very good. I wonder how long before other communities start complaining of hearing them :)

I haven't heard the testing here in Sioux City (and VCall and most of the VTac freqs are programmed into the county's VHF radios). I mention because it's very common to hear DSM LEA and BASE up here.

Does anyone know of any other agencies in the state are using these channels in VHF, UHF, or 800 form? I know Cedar Rapids has a couple of the 800 ones in use, but I haven't heard any other traffic on the VHF or UHF ones.

The thing is, these are set aside for anybody to use. I believe Pocahontas County CERT is using the VTAC frequencies.

Polk County using those frequencies and cross banding them all together is going to become an interoperability nightmare for anybody who may need these frequencies outside of Polk county... And im sure theyre going to scream interference at the first sign of trouble.

These are supposed to be for short range and portable repeaters.... Not wide area coverage.

The Woodbury County com center can patch anything to anything, regardless of band or system. All of the NPSPAC freqs are available at the click of a button or two.

I can now confirm that this system is in use. I heard DMPD put out a call regarding a shooting on the north side on the I-Call channels (VCALL10/UCALL40/8CALL90). LINC was also used, but the call went out on I-Call first.
