Arrow Ames or Story County Scanner question

I want to make sure that my stream is catching all the calls going over the airways. If you can read this post and you live in Ames please play my scanner stream some day and compare it to the live scanner traffic. If I'm missing calls or frequencies let me know. Give me as much detail as possible: frequency, codes, type, and time of call.

I have an alert set in ScannerRadio. I listen to it during storms and sometimes during VEISHEA. (I have family in Ames.) Although the audio quality is very good, it always seems like I'm missing some content. Tell the folks on the radio that ScannerLand would like to hear whats going on.

The frequency data for Ames has a few expired freqs do you have the new line up? I think they might have been rebanded that seems to be going on around here.

I don't know of any changes. My list hasn't changed since 2010. I'm hoping this forum will help me in making changes and updates.

I would start there with the frequency line up, I do believe there may be some new frequencies to add and some old ones to remove. I would love to help but my RS Pro-97 is obsolete and will not properly follow new rebanded Motorola 800 MHz trunked systems.

Good Luck

OK based on the current data on RR for the Ames Story Co TRS here is what I found:

Remove:
852.3375-EXP
853.2875-EXP

Ad:
854.0375
854.7375
855.1625
857.0625
859.5625
860.5625

They have 20 channels now. The Ames site is too far for me to check out let me know what you find and if you can confirm this data is being used we should report it to RR so they can update the Story Co page.

Run Unitrunker on the system for a few days, that will give you all the frequencies being used.and most of the GID's.

Hello Tim I plugged the Control Channel and was able to get all the frequencies in the system no problem and the talkgroups match the original entry just the Ames stuff is missing. I also tried running as just a type ll and had good luck with all the talkgroups I wish I had some computer controlled software to decode trunked systems and a cable to hook my scanner to my computer too.

For Ames I don't have 854.0375, 855.1625, 857.0625 programmed in. 859.5625 and 860.5625I have listed under the Iowa State University list.

When did these come online? Why are they hidden from the RR database ot updated since 2011.

I attached my Pro97 scanner file just in case you can read it.

I just follow the basics on my scanner. I don't scan much of the traffic outside the scope of Ames Police and Fire. I skip most of the Iowa State and Story county traffic "fluff".

It pretty much reads straight off of RadioReference. Now if there is something that RadioReference is missing, I'm likely missing it too. If anyone can help fill in the holes that would be great.

Just to recap you should have these frequencies combined together for "Story County":

WNRB641 - LWC Communication Inc Alleman Site
856.1125...............................856.5125
857.1125-Data Burst..............857.5125
858.1125...............................858.5125
859.1125...............................859.5125
860.1125...............................860.5125

WNIA622 - WRC Communications Alleman Site
856.6375
857.6375
858.6375
859.6375-Control Channel
860.6375

And for Ames City services you should have all these frequencies programmed in together they are all part I of the same system:

KNJX924 - ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING COMPANY Ames Site
854.0375
854.7375
855.1625
855.6375
857.0625
856.0125
857.0125
858.0125
859.0125
860.0125
856.5625
857.5625
858.5625
859.5625
860.5625

Default VIESHEA Channels

I think the three additional channels that you found are the VIESHEA 1, 2, and 3 used for ISU events

Yeah, I blocked the VIESHEA 1, 2, and 3 channels used for ISU. Too much "security only" calls. Not much police related

Which 3 extra channels are they? Channels on the trunked system or 3 conventional frequencies?

OK but the system is working good otherwise? Unfortunately I have an older scanner that will not track a Moto system after re-banding very well
