I decided to take a short trip today just to get out of the house. drove up Maquoketa and sat for short time at Walmart on the south side of town. I didn't have a mobile antenna on the car so just had to deal with the one on the handheld.

first up was a search of 851 MHz range:

857.3375 CC0
858.3375 CC0
859.3125 CC0
860.3125 CC0

The signal was full scale, no communications were heard. I noticed that were I usually see data or cap+ I had "DT3". Not very up on DMR so what favor is this?

The tower at the DOT garage on the west side of DeWitt had three folded dipole antennae on it. There was two sets of microwave dishes. One set was pointed south and the other was westward.

I had these show up in a search of the 700 MHz band.

773.80625 five bars in Maquoketa, only three on the south-side of Welton
774.28125 three bars in Maquoketa, not heard at Welton
There was no sysid showing. "data" was on the right lower line where you usually find it

Yep, most of the DT3 (DMR Tier 3) around here is either Alliant or the Dept. of Corrections (prisons).

I bet the DOT tower has the ISICS system on it - and the 700mhz signals are probably that. Just a guess though :)
