Questions about re-banding

Hello. I am new to this forum and would like to get some more knowledge about police/fire scanners and weather spotting.
I have heard a lot of talk about the so called "rebanding" that is going to take place. I have done some research online but still don't understand all of what is going on. From what I know, Public Safety will be moving down into the lower 800's as well as into the 700's. I have overheard that Wichita/Sedgwick County are switching to new frequencies in the next few months. Can anyone help me understand?
I am assuming that my PRO-95 will not work with these new frequencies. What should I get? I am looking for a mobile unit to put in my truck. ALSO, should I go with analog or with digital? I hope someone can enlighten me on this, thanks. JW

From what I know (which is probably very little in comparison to some of these other guys) you're pretty much spot on with your understanding of rebanding. Rebanding - The RadioReference Wiki should provide a lot of the answers to any pending questions as well.

On the question of Wichita switching to 700MHz, I have no clue.

And as far as digital vs. analog...if you can afford the digital...go for it. Systems are moving that way...
