Default New Talkgroups KSICS

Spoke with a few deputies from Pottawatomie and Wabaunsee counties last week. They advised that they each will have several talkgroups on the KSICS system within the next few months. TFMCOMM will be programming all their new radios. KDOT doesnt have anything to do with programming apparently because they didnt even know that either of these counties will be on the new system. Does anyone in here know what the new talkgroup ID's will be? I believe each county will be purchasing 15 or so radios and will have several talkgroups....Sheriff main, Investigations, etc etc. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

That seems odd that KDOT wouldn't know about it. Is there system somehow separate from the State sysem? I thought it was just all part of it. Everyone else has to sign a lengthy user agreement and KDOT does the programming for a fee.

It is definitely part of the same system. They'll be using the states existing towers. They are getting the radios from KDOT but KDOT isnt doing the programming. Im not sure whats going on with it.

Every county in the state will be getting some "subscriber" units through the federal interoperability grant that KDEM is handling with KDOT. Who actually gets them in each county has become a local political issue. (You might look through some of the older posts- someone had posted a link to the grant showing how many "subscriber" units were being purchased for local agencies).

As far as talkgroup assignments. Realize that there is a general talkgroup assignment plan that KDOT developed long before this system was turned on which reserves blocks of talkgroups for each county. Those reserved talkgroups will be assigned uses and activated as cities / counties begin to come onto the system.

For example- Shawnee County already has talkgroups assigned and activated on KSICS mirroring all of their talkgroups they use today on their trunked system.

Heard 204 call in on KHP 1 off of the Buffalo tower this evening asking dispatch what the radio ID was. She replied AL CO M2. I would guess this would be Allen County maybe Mobile 2. The radio ID was 13474. Will monitor and see if any new talkgroups show up with this ID number.

A little research makes me think 2018 could be Kansas Emergency Mgmt. and the SCO is the State Coord Officer. Just a guess though........
