Default New TG on KSICS

The wabaunsee county sheriff's dept is now coming online. Their talkgroup I heard today was 1322. Im thinking thats going to be their main channel theyll be using. You'll only hear this of course if youre in range of the wabaunsee county tower or they're radio is pinging off of the pottawatomie or shawnee sites. Im thinking in the future some more counties in the northeast part of the state will be coming online as they get their radios, although im not sure which counties opted to have their own talkgroups. most counties are being issued radios with the "mutual aid" type talkgroups.

I doubt this is Wabaunsee County's talkgroup. You are probably hearing them talking on a mutual aid, event, or regional talkgroup on radios they received through a regional emergency management grant.

Wow, didn't realize any of the local counties were on it yet. Listened to KBI chatting on it last night while they were on their way to the incident near Eskridge.

Is it WBSOs analog/conventional 800 MHz channel (which has been in the state radio plan for several years) or a KSICS TG?

WBSO has been working off of 800 analog for awhile (with one transmitter on the KDOT Eskridge Tower and another on a tower along K-99 a few miles north of I-70). They also have a TG assigned on the SNCO TRS.

Out of curiousity- were these the new radios that came from the DHS grant? How many did SNCO get?

I've heard them on TG 1322 as well. Which TG do they have in SN County, don't see them listed in the database.

It was on the digital zone. We got 10 portable and 15 mobiles and 4 bases stations. So far they are really nice.

Default Tg 4260

I picked up Wabaunsee County on TG 4260 this morning on the Topeka tower. Guess we must have a front moving in for me to be able to pick up the Topeka tower down here in SE Kansas.

4260 is pottawatomie county talkgroup but wabaunsee also has that talkgroup in their radios so that they can talk back and forth. they have also given that talkgroup to khp. its pottawatomie county channel 4. pott county has several different talkgroups assigned to them. upwards of about 10 different talkgroups i think.

Default Transit Funds being used to upgrade radio towers

"KDOT will devote $3.5 million to upgrading 15 radio towers around the state to provide 800 MHz
communications. The tower locations were selected to support local transit services and the upgrades
will enable the transit providers to communicate with their vehicles over longer distances. The towers
are located in the following counties: Cloud, Dickinson, Ellis, Ellsworth, Hamilton, Jewell, Kearny,
Lane, McPherson, Mitchell, Osborne, Rooks, Russell, Scott and Washington."

At 1800 hrs today (5-7) WBSO broadcast to several rural fire districts that "Wabaunsee 800 re-banding was complete and any units with 800 radios could switch to the new channels." A short time later there was a short burst of traffic on KSICS TG 4254 then what sounded like encrypted traffic throughout the evening on TG 4258.

4003 is a shared TG named NE4 PSAP. The NE4 region is MR, CS, LY, CF, OS, FR, AN, MI, and LN counties, so any of those counties can use that TG.

Duhhhhh, guess I never thought to check that and I just assumed it was a unique one since I've never heard anyone using it yet.
