Red face Newby Here

Several years ago I bought a BC 278 CLT scanner to use in my then hometown of Salina, KS. I loved listening to the Kansas Highway Patrol and Salina PD (always something going on). Well, the scanner has since been in a box for a few years and I just got it out again a couple of days ago. I am now living in Wilson County and I was just curious if anyone else listens in this area and/or might have some advice on how to program the scanner to this area. I would really like to pick up the highway patrol.

Also, I feel a little ancient using the BC 278 scanner now that I see how technology has changed since I last used the scanner. Is it going to be to out of date? Do I need to look into buying a newer scanner?

I would appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Here are the freq's for Wilson County: Wilson County, Kansas (KS) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference
As for KHP, that scanner is not trunking or capable of receiving digital. All KHP in SE KS is on the KSICS digital system, so you would need a new scanner.

Thanks, I can't believe how much has changed since I last used my scanner. I'm really thinking about
buying a new scanner with trunking abilities now. I've done a great deal of research over the last couple of days and I've been learning a lot :-)

If you are wanting to hear KHP, gotta make sure it is not only trunking, but digital also. Big difference in scanner, and also big difference in price.
