Default Ksics tgids 466

KSICS Olathe tower had TGIDS 466 traffic on 7/10/09. Traffic was encrypted. Any ideas on who it was?

Ottawa PD has 466 and 467.

Not surprised that the traffic was encrypted.

They were also talking back and forth in the clear around then to their dispatch center on their regional PSAP channel (two units in the 200 series radio numbers and checking several Ottawa addresses and phone numbers).

I think that we will find a number of local agencies who will start using KSICS as a secondary radio channel for two reasons- first, many of them just recieved 800 digital radios from the PSIC and Homeland Security grants and they want to use the new toys, second, they see this as a way to defeat local scanner listeners who are monitoring their conventional channels on their $89 radio shack scanners.

200 units in Franklin County is SO units. PD uses 400 series. If the traffic was in the evening, around 8pm or after, it was probably related to the homicide they had. Ottawa PD also has encryption on thier own channel, so doubt they are using the KSICS anyway.

There is an update to the KSICS database. Apparently, the channel belongs to a drug taskforce for Franklin Co. Whomever updated the database. Thanks.

It's used by both agencies and is often a multi purpose type channel.

The sheer range is the main factor that I am seeing. It's a very handy thing to drive to KC and still be able and talk to a guy at Topeka or Lawrence or wherever.
